Governor Ibikunle Amosun has asked the Rector of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, (MAPOLY), Ojere, Abeokuta, Arch. Tokunbo Fowode, to immediately proceed on disengagement leave, directing Professor Bandele Adelanwa Itiola to take over from him.
The change follows the announcement of the freezing of accounts of the institution in various banks.
Fowode’s removal might not be unconnected to alleged financial misappropriation leveled against him by some staff of the institution.
A four-paragraph statement signed by the Accountant-General of the state, Mr A.S.Senfuye, conveyed the decision of the State goverment to freeze the MAPOLY bank accounts.
The memo dated 17 September, 2013, and sent to the banks further stated that payments could be made to the accounts, but no withdrawal be allowed unless the person gets clearance from the office of the Accountant-General.
Fowode, an Architect hails from the Ijebu axis of the state, while his successor is from Abeokuta North.
Reacting, he expressed appreciation to the state government for the opportunity given to him to serve the state in that capacity.
He said his tenure “exponentially improved human capacity and physical infrastructure in the annals of the institution.”
The institution, which is the Alma-mater of the state Governor, presently has no Governing Council in place.
