Osun State University will hold their 3rd convocation ceremonies form 23rd-29th of march.
The one-week event was made know to the public by the Chairman of the Ceremonials Committee, Professor Olayiwola Oladele, who said the event will start with a thanksgiving service at the Union Baptist Church, Odi-Olowo, Osogbo on Sunday, 23 March, 2013 followed by Press Conference to be addressed by the Vice-Chancellor on Monday, 24 March, 2014.
The event will include:
Commissioning of Ikire College Library and 500-Seater ETF Building at Ikire Campus and Ipetu-Ijesa College Library at Ipetu-Ijesa Campus by the Governor and Visitor of the Institution, Ogbeni
Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola, on 25 March.
During the week, the second Distinguished Guest Lecture will be delivered by the Chairman of the Governors’ Forum, His Excellency, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, the Governor of River State on 26 March while the 3rd Convocation Lecture titled ‘Public Universities, Vision and Knowledge Economies’ is to be delivered by a highly celebrated Distinguished University Professor, Toyin Falola, Jacob and Frances Sanger Mossiker Chair in the Humanities, University of Texas at Austin, on 27 March.
Professor Toyin Falola is the Vice President of International Scientific Committee (Slave Route Project) UNESCO. He is the President-Elect of African Studies Association in the United States of America.
In the same vein, three programmes are lined up for Friday, 28 March, 2014: there will be Jumat Service at the Central Mosque, Oja-Oba, Induction of graduating students into Alumni/Re-Union and Convocation Play. The climax of the event will hold on Saturday, 29 March, 2014 for the conferment of first degrees and award of prizes on graduating students who have successfully completed their Bachelor’s Degree programmes and who have been found worthy both in character and in learning.
The statement, however, advised all graduating students to contact their College Secretaries and complete their clearance on time.
