We may now have an idea of what former aviation minister Stella Oduah will be doing with her free time after wrapping up a controversial stint in government.
According to the VANGUARD, she may soon be appointed as the coordinator of all the groups currently positioning themselves to campaign for President Goodluck Jonathan’s re-election in 2015.
The paper quoted a source as saying that as a prelude to bringing her on board following her resignation, the presidency was creating a unit to be called ‘The Research and Strategy Unit’ which she would head as Director-General. The unit will later morph into a body that will be the arrow point for the President’s campaign.
This new assignment would be similar to the role she played during the 2011 presidential elections where she handled a major campaign and enlightenment platform, the Neighbour to Neighbour project, which was refuted to be a very effective campaign organisation.
The paper makes a startling claim, saying that the number of different groups, non-governmental organisations and youth advocacy combines jostling to aid the President’s re-election bid stands at 115. Oduah is increasingly seen in top PDP and government circles as the most capable person to harness this burgeoning industry geared towards returning Jonathan to Aso Rock for another four years.
Let’s not get carried away though, Oduah’s media aide, Joe Obi, in a phone interview said he was unaware of the Presidency’s moves.
Maybe it’s all just talk.
